How it Works

SET A GOAL

  • Decide what activity you'd like to become involved with to earn money to help Syrian children.

  • Decide how many hours you'd like to donate.

CHOOSE A CHARITY

  • Click here for information on our featured humanitarian aid organizations.

FIND A SPONSOR

  • Ask your parents, relatives, neighbors or your favorite stores or restaurants to sponsor special activities that you have chosen to do to help Syrian children.

WHAT DOES A SPONSOR DO?

  • A sponsor contributes money - that you have earned - to the charity of your choice.

  • Each hour you donate by doing some kind of community service, earns one dollar that your sponsor donates to your charity.

  • A sponsor can be a member of your family, a neighbor, a school or organization or a local business (for example, a store or restaurant).

  • You keep track of your hours using the honor system.

  • Discuss with your sponsor(s) before you begin:

    • how much money you want to earn

    • what charity you have chosen

    • your ideas for community service

CHOSE AN ACTIVITY

  • Try to be as thoughtful and creative as possible - the sky's the limit. Here are some ideas:

    • write a story or article about the refugee crisis for your school or house of worship.

    • do chores at home or help a neighbor or a member of your community.

    • volunteer your time for a worthy cause.

These are some ways that some young people who have participated in Kids Embracing Kids have earned money:
